WALTER BISHOP-JONES

Owner, Barber Walter's

Bishop-Jones got his first pair of clippers at 11 years old and promptly started cutting the hair of everyone in his California neighborhood. Fast forward to today -- he owns and operates the full service Barber Walter’s shop in Wellesley, where he relocated with his wife Kat. Bishop-Jones specializes in cuts and hot towel shaves, and carries an extensive line of locally sourced products in the shop’s apothecary. Everything in the shop is expertly curated – with vintage chairs, beverage selections, a library of books and other amenities. His attention to detail is lauded by customers. But what really sets Bishop-Jones apart is his commitment to creating community – both within his four walls and beyond. As he states on his website, “before Facebook, the real-life social network met at the barbershop.” Bishop-Jones converses on just about any topic, and goes out of his way to get to know his patrons on a deeper level. He seeks out relationships with fellow business owners and nonprofit organizations in town, and is a member of the Wellesley Merchants’ Association and the Dalhousie Masonic Lodge.
