Chief Executive Officer, Jewish Family Service of MetroWest
A first-generation Mexican American, Covarrubias is the CEO of Jewish Family Service of Metrowest (JFS), a Framingham-based nonprofit organization serving over 7,000 individuals and families annually within the Metrowest and Greater Boston regions. Under Covarrubias leadership in the last 14 years (serving as COO for 11 years), JFS has accelerated the reducing of social, academic, and health inequity in community members experiencing financial distress, poverty, and racism/anti-semitism.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, JFS worked to keep immigrant families from being homeless and provided basic needs along with helping older adults in the Jewish community stay safe and connected. The organization provided over 90,000 meals and over 120,000 units of toiletries/sanitary products, learning materials for children, and information in multiple languages to the community.
