REGINA WU, M.D.
President, Newton Food Pantry
Wu’s role as a primary care physician, treating patients with diabetes, congestive heart failure, and high blood pressure, fueled her mission to help our community live a healthy lifestyle by providing access to healthy, delicious, nutritious and culturally-relevant foods. Prior to joining the Newton Food Pantry in 2012, Wu was a volunteer at the Greater Boston Food Bank’s mobile market in Jamaica Plain.
After attending a mayor’s citywide food drive, she shifted focus to support her own community. Over the last 12 years, Wu has served as a Wednesday afternoon volunteer, the pantry’s vice president, before assuming the role as president in 2020, and led the development and execution of community-changing initiatives like the freedge, a 24/7 refrigerator & pantry, Newton’s Community Table Event, and the teen ambassador program.
